Independence Day Parties

America’s independence is a great reason to celebrate. And there is no better way than to throw a party on the 4th of July. Parties on the Fourth are often held outdoors, whether it is a pool party or backyard barbeque. Block parties are fun summer parties, especially when a parade happens to be going through the neighborhood. Summer holidays are also a great time to throw a family reunion.

Fourth of July parties usually span across an afternoon or the evening. If a parade route or kiddie parade is in the area, you may want to invite people over before the start for lunch. After everyone attends the parade, they can head back for desserts before fireworks. People who live near a fireworks display may host an early evening party that extends until dusk.

Regardless of the kind of party you end up throwing, you want to be sure to get your invitations out as soon as possible. Between family obligations, weddings, vacation travel and other party invites, your guests will need a proper heads up about the Independence Day party you are throwing.

Types of 4th of July Party Invitations

Pick out a party invitation that reflects your overall theme for the day. If you have military ties, a camouflage background is perfect. For a pool or beach party, pick up an invitation depicting the activity, like a beach ball invitation. Barbeque scenes and fireworks are also popular invite design choices. And of course, patriotic red, white and blue colors are classic for 4th of July party invitations.

Professionally-Created Invitations

Ordering invitations online or through your local printer is a great way to make a professional-looking invite while saving you time. You can order most invites blank for you to fill in, or you can have all of the information printed. Usually an additional fee will apply for personalization.

Invitations to consider ordering include:

  • Fireworks from Impressions In Print is a two-sided cardstock design with firecrackers.
  • Liberty from Impressions In Print shows the Statue of Liberty.
  • Seargent Peter from AnnouncingIt.com is a young soldier die-cut design.
  • Keg~4th of July: from AnnouncingIt.com has a keg with American flags atop it.
  • Patio Umbrella Invitation from Custom Creations by Leslie is a great invite for a patio party.

Printable Invitations

Printing invitations from your home computer can save a considerable amount of money. You can use a home computer graphics program or find free printable invitations online.

Internet Family Fun has two free printable invite designs. One features a flag and the other features exploding fireworks. Blue Mountain offers three free designs for printing. The flag, fireworks and a patriotic-colored house are the graphics.

Email Invitations

If the entire guest list is made up of people who are zealous email checkers, you will have success in sending out invites via the internet. You can make them in a word processing or publishing program and send them as an attachment. However, some people may not have the same program, making the invite difficult to open or read.

Register for free with American Greetings to view their two free Fourth of July email invites. One is a picnic scene while the other shows people flipping cards to form the American flag. Members of Evite can use their services to send several different invitations to everyone. Design choices are backyard barbeque, fireworks and flag.

Party Invite Information

Be sure to include all of the proper information on the invitation. Not only do you need the date, time and place, but an RSVP name/number so you can plan accordingly. For beach or pool parties, you will want to indicate that everyone is welcome to bring swimsuits, towels and a change of clothes.

Potlucks are popular parties on Independence Day. Include any information regarding the potluck, such as “Meat and drinks provided, please provide a salad or dessert to share.” Get plenty of party menu ideas at LoveToKnow Recipes!
