50th Anniversary Party Invitations

From LoveToKnow Party

Creating 50th anniversary party invitations is comparable to creating your wedding invitations. In fact, you could argue a 50th anniversary party is more important than a wedding. Most people get married, but not everyone stays together for 50 years.

Planning your 50th Anniversary is a special time.

50th Wedding Anniversary

Celebrating 50 years of love and marriage is something to share with everyone. A party is a great way to announce your loving accomplishment to friends and family. If you are planning a party for yourself or for your parents, expect to have your work cut out for you. Your guest list should include everyone the married couple wants to help them celebrate.

Begin your guest list with the couple in mind. They may just want to invite a few close friends to dinner and offer a champagne toast. If this is the case, invitations are optional. If you plan to go all out, you will need to plan ahead and get ready to mail out those 50th Anniversary party invitations.

50th Anniversary Party Invitations

Your invitations should reflect your mood of joy and celebration. You have numerous options to choose from while planning your event.

Using a Printer

The easiest, but most expensive, way to create your 50th anniversary party invitations is by hiring a printer. You can find a local printer through the yellow pages. Many bookstores, scrapbooking stores, and paper supply shops offer printing. You can flip through a book of sample invites and choose the one which best fits what you want.

There are many different styles you can choose from. One fun idea is to replicate your original wedding invitations. With today’s technology, a graphic artist should be able to come up with something close to what you mailed out when you first got married 50 years ago.

If you want to create something new, here are some ideas:

  • Keep it simple and print on crème or white cardstock
  • Use a gold letter foil to print the text
  • A ribbon border adds a touch of elegance
  • Use your wedding photo as the background
  • Stick to the golden anniversary theme with gold invitations or a gold ribbon
  • Keep it casual using simple art like champagne glasses

Ordering Online

If you already know what you want, or can get a good feel what the invite will look like from a picture, you can order them online at Celebrate Invitations or My Gatsby. A search at Google for “invitations” and “anniversary” will give you more options to price compare.

When ordering online, do be careful of who you spend your money with. Here are some questions to ask:

  • Where are you located?
  • What is your phone number?
  • What is your printing time frame?
  • Can I approve a hard copy before going to print?
  • What other costs do you charge, for example, set-up?
  • May I have the number of a customer who recently used your services?

Always check with the Better Business Bureau before paying to check the history of the printer you are about to use.

Scrapbook Invitations

If you love to scrapbook, get busy creating hand-made custom invites with photos, ribbon and other scrapbooking tools. You can print out the party info and glue it to the back of the invite, or create a photo image on your computer and place the text directly on the photo. If you have time, think of creating a double sided invite using a black and white photo from 50 years ago on one side and a new color photo on the other side.

If you plan to create a large amount of invitations, consider a scrapbooking party to help you make them all.

Scrapbook Collage

If you do not have time to create individual invites, creative 50th anniversary party invitations can be done online. Consider creating a collage of photos you can print out yourself. If your printer is not able to handle the job, email them to a photo shop for a low cost, but photo quality invite.

If you do not have a lot of digital pictures, raid the storage closet and go through past photos. You can easily scan them onto your computer. If you are unsure how to do this yourself, most graphic artists will bid out the project for you.

Time Frame

If you are mailing out the 50th anniversary party invitations, you need to leave enough time for your guests to make plans. If they live out of town, give them two months notice so they can make travel arrangements. For in town guests, six weeks is a nice time frame.

Happy Anniversary! May your 50th anniversary party invitations mark the beginning of many more years of happiness and celebration.
