Birthday Party Bling Bling
From LoveToKnow Party
Everybody wants birthday party bling bling! Whether you’re seven or seventeen, it’s all about the bling. "Bling bling" is hip-hop slang for all that glitters. Adding bling to a birthday party is as simple as adding rhinestones, gold decorations and all the accoutrements of the good life. The beauty of it is that it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune.
Creating Birthday Party Bling Bling
What better way to throw a party than in high style? Bling it up from the very start with your invitations, throw a party to remember and then send your guests home with fun reminders of a great time. Here are just a few ideas on how to bring on the birthday party bling bling.
Invitations
Stop by your local Dollar Store and you’ll find some great items to use to create invitations for your party.
Check out their toy section for play money that you could paste to the front of a regular party invitation.
Their scrapbooking section may have gold paper or stick-on rhinestones. These could be used together to create great handmade invitations that will really have bling.
Another way to go would be to create your invitations on black construction paper or card stock and hand write them with a gold or silver pen. Be sure to add lots of flourish and feel free to jazz them up with glitter or more stick-on rhinestones.
If your hobby happens to be rubber stamping, you could create some great invitations with gold or silver embossing.
Whatever you choose to do for your invitations, be sure to really bling it up so you can get partygoers into the mood. If you really want a birthday party with bling, be sure to also tell your guests to dress the part!
Setting the Scene
Every party needs music. You could hire a disc jockey for your party. You could also save yourself the money and program your music on an iPod or other MP3 player and just plug it in to your stereo system when the guests arrive. Another music option is to create a mix CD of your party songs and just let it play.
Decorate your party palace with gold Mylar balloons tied with gold ribbons. The flashier the decorations, the better they are to create the true bling mood.
Have a table set up with your beverages. If your party is for the under 21 crowd, set up a non-alcoholic bar with plastic champagne glasses and sparkling cider, white grape juice and ginger ale. For adults, real champagne is the only way to go.
Serve your refreshments on gold paper plates with gold plastic utensils. You can easily find these at any party supply store. If you’re serving birthday cake, have it decorated with colored sugar and candy gems. Spruce it up with all the flash and panache you or your bakery can muster.
Activities
If you really want to bling it up, have guests arrive on a red carpet and have a few people at the ready with cameras to play paparazzi. Have your paparazzi use Polaroid cameras if you’d like your guests to have a keepsake of their arrival or use digital cameras and create an online scrapbook of the event after the fact. You could also create a photo CD for each guest as well as the guest of honor.
Hang a piece of black poster board near the refreshments and attach gold and silver markers so that guests can write a birthday message for the guest of honor to keep.
Party Favors
Every party should have party favors and a goody bag. These can be very simple or extremely extravagant.
For the younger set, try including jewelry making kits. These can also do double duty as a party activity. Try the Party Bling Bling Ring & Bracelet Bead Kit. Dog tags and sunglasses embellished with rhinestones will be a big hit for those who want to bring on the bling. Some other fun items to include are gold Mardi Gras beads. Feather boas for the ladies and fedoras for the gentlemen attending can be a fun touch.
Making Goody bags can be great fun. Simply get gold gift bags and fill them with your party favors. Have them on a table near the entrance so your guests can get their bling on and party in style from the start. If you made a CD of your party music, you could even include a copy of it in your goody bag.
