Fall Colored Paper Party Goods
From LoveToKnow Party
Fall colored paper party goods are the perfect complement to your autumn harvest party.
Fall Tableware and Décor
Paper goods are usually the cheapest party decorations you can pick up. And unlike glass or porcelain, there is no chance of breakage and you never have to clean them. Paper goods can also be good for the environment, if you take the time to recycle them or buy items containing recycled materials.
Autumn colors make the perfect complement to any party from September through the end of November. Rich tones to consider using in your paper supplies include:
- Reds: Burgundy, scarlet, wine, maroon
- Oranges: Rust, pumpkin
- Yellows: Mustard, maize, amber
- Browns: Chocolate, mocha, auburn, sepia
- Metallics: Gold, copper, bronze
- Greens: Pine, forest, hunter, olive
These colors also work well paired together. For example, use maroon as your overall color and accent with gold and chocolate brown. Decorations and table accessories can be purchased plain or with a design.
Table Accessories
Fall parties are often centered on the main meal. Therefore, you should choose table settings and accessories to match your theme:
- Napkins
- Plates
- Cups
- Place cards
- Centerpieces
To save money, consider getting just the place cards, napkins and centerpiece in a matching design. Then find use the dominant color for plain cups and plates.
Decorations
Choose decorations with your table settings in mind. If the table setting features multi-colored leaves, you can pick from a number of fall colors to use throughout the party space. But if you have pumpkins or small gourds, choosing greens and oranges may be a good way to tie the colors together. Paper items to put throughout your home include:
- Garlands
- Whirls
- Ceiling stringers
- Scene setters
- Paper lanterns
- Door covers
- Honeycomb/cardstock figures
- Mobiles
Crafty Fall Colored Paper Party Goods
Making your own fall colored paper party goods not only saves you money but allows you to put all those fall craft ideas to good use. Several easy paper crafts to make include placemats, whirls and scene setters.
Placemats
A placemat can really jazz up a fall table. Pick up some 12"x12" plain scrapbooking paper in the fall color of your choice. Scatter confetti leaves on top of the paper, then laminate for easy cleanup at the end of the party.
Whirls
Cut a large circle out of paper in your favorite autumn shade. Turn the paper as you cut a continuous strip approximately one-inch wide. Stop when you have about a 2-inch diameter left at the top of the whirl. Set aside.
Trace leaf, pumpkin and turkey shapes onto paper using cookie cutters as your guide. Cut them out and punch a hole in the top. Using various lengths of string, attach them to the top of the whirl. Add a final string to the top of the whirl with an open paper clip for hanging.
Scene Setters
Pick up enough white poster board to cover the bottom half of the smallest wall in your main party room. Using a computer graphics program, print out scarecrows, corn, a barn, a house, leaves, trees, and other fall shapes. Cut the figures out and trace them onto plain paper in a fall color.
Let the kids at your party decide what they want the scene to look like. Arm them with the paper silhouettes, glue and washable markers so they can complete the scene setter by the time the party has finished.
