Free Party Games
From LoveToKnow Party
Free party games can be found online and can add that special touch to your next get-together. Below are just a few places to find games and icebreakers – both traditional and creative.
The Benefits of Free Party Games
There are many perks to free party games, the biggest being that, as their name suggests, they are free for the taking. Since most are found via the Internet, they are also great for spontaneous gatherings, bringing hours of entertainment and amusement to a party that wasn’t planned far in advance. Finally, since the web is so large and diverse, you can easily hunt down party games for all ages and interest levels.
A Few Favorites
Out of everything found online for various themed parties, these reign supreme with party planners.
Bridal Shower Jeopardy
Tired of paper plate bouquets and “Newlywed Game” knock-offs? Try a little Bridal Shower Jeopardy at the next wedding shower you plan. Set it up just as you would a standard Jeopardy game, with squares worth different amounts of points, and categories all based on a consistent wedding theme. Divide ladies up into two teams and give them one minute to answer a question behind the square they choose. Keep playing until all of the categories have been used up and whoever has the most points is the winner. Be sure to have a fun prize on hand for the victorious team.
If you don’t feel confident in your Jeopardy board making skills, ask a friend, or consider ordering from a website that carries a Bridal Shower Jeopardy package for a reasonably low price.
Baby Naming
At your next baby shower, print out a list of animals and the respective name for the baby version. For example, a baby bear is called a cub. Then give a list of just the proper grown up names to each game participant. Time them and see who can get the most correct. You’ll be surprised at how difficult it really is! You can choose any animals you wish, but here are several to get you started:
- Alligator = hatchling
- Eagle = eaglet
- Elephant = calf
- Hummingbird = chick
- Skunk = kit
- Spider = spiderlet
- Monkey = infant
- Donkey = foal
Patriotic Relay
For Memorial Day or 4th of July, have a relay race packed with United States history. Follow the typical relay race format of having a challenge for each team, such as carrying an egg on a spoon or running in a straight line blindfolded. However, in this relay each team member must answer a historical quiz question before being allowed to run across the playing field. Guests will learn some conversation starters about America, while everyone gets the chance to be active and play outside. Gather your quiz questions off of a website such as this one.
Where to Find More Games
Free printable games are available for every theme and season. Visit the following sites to start your search:
- Party Supplies Hut is a great first stop when you’re searching for the perfect game idea. Find everything from Memorial Day to Quinceanera games you can print using your home computer.
- Sunday school teachers, homeschool moms, and anyone else looking for a Christian alternative to typical party games will enjoy a visit to this site, where you will find ice breakers and other group activities by clicking on the left navigation bar of the homepage.
- Does your family love Bingo? Check out Kaboose.com, which has plenty of printables, from Olympic Bingo to bingo cards that can be used for studying.
- The Kidz Page has printable games for children, as well as a strong collection of online amusements that are safe for young web surfers.
If you can’t find any free party games you like, another option is to look for ideas of things party guests can easily make. Message boards and craft blogs are great starting points to find some inspiration, and you’ll enjoy setting up your game station just as much as the party itself!
