Games for a Sleep Over
From LoveToKnow Party
Consider some games for a sleep over to make the night fun and unforgettable. Games are a great way to get to know one another while bonding over something enjoyable and exciting.
Types of Games for a Sleep Over
There are endless possibilities when it comes to games for a sleep over. Depending on the age of the sleep over guests and what their interests are, the choices are limitless. One way to decide what games to play is to find out how many girls will be at the sleep over and if they share any special interests. For example, if you come across a group of girls who love to sing or enjoy dancing, then center the games around those activities:
- Have a dance contest
- Sing karaoke
- Play Name That Tune (create your own game with a mix of your favorite songs)
- Play musical sleeping bags
Board and Card Games
If the girls enjoy games, have a variety for them to play. Some popular choices include:
- Apples to Apples
- Monopoly
- Uno
- Scrabble
Gossip, Gossip and More Gossip
Of course gossip and chatting is a big part of any sleep over. There are several games you can play that go along with this as well:
- Play a game of telephone where one person whispers a sentence to the next girl in line. It is fun to see how the sentence changes by the time it reaches the last person.
- Truth or Dare is always popular. Be sure to keep it light and safe so no one feels uncomfortable.
- Make up a list of things about yourself and see what guest knows you the best. Ask them to answer the questions and whoever gets the most right is the winner.
For The Boys
If the sleep over is for a group of boys, some games to consider are:
- Chess or checkers
- Tag
- Outdoor sports such as basketball or football
- Kickball
It can be fun for the boys to be active before settling down for the night. Include a variety of sports and games for them to play to channel some of their energy.
More Games
In addition, have some other game ideas that will be of interest to everyone. Some fun choices include:
- Wii or other video game system
- Hide and Go Seek
- Charades
Sleep Over Additions
In addition to games, there are many other things to do at a sleep over. Watching movies and eating snacks always make for a fun night with friends. Let the guests make their own snacks. Some fun snack ideas include:
- Make your own sundaes
- Personalize pizzas with your choice of toppings
- Offer an assortment of movie time candy such as jaw breakers, licorice, Milk Duds and Junior Mints
Remember the most important thing is that everyone is having a good time and feels included in the activities. By offering a mix of games, the night can be more organized and less likely to end up being chaotic. Games will not only break the ice but will bring everyone closer together as well. Be sure that no one is being left out of the games and that the sleep over is a night filled with fun and friendship.
