Kid Party Favors
From LoveToKnow Party
The "goodie bag" or gift bag full of kid party favors, is a common tradition at childrens' birthday parties. So common that most kids expect to go home with at least a little something after a celebration. Never fear! Kid party favor ideas are as plentiful as your child's imagination.
Kid Party Favors
If you're looking into kid party favor ideas it's likely you'll soon be celebrating someone very special. No doubt that cherished young boy or girl has unique interests and ideas that you'll want to consider in planning the party. If you don't already have an idea or theme for the celebration, just ask your child. If there's one thing kids have, it's an opinion!
Your child may be interested in cowboys, art, nature, specific cartoon characters and so on. For our conversational venture into kid party favor ideas, we're going to cover just a few of the popular basics: the princess, the super hero and the magician. Feel free to take these ideas, brainstorm and personalize them to suit your own party.
You'll find ready made party favors from simple to extravagant at your local party supply store or online at sites like the Oriental Trading Company. Of course with a little creative thought, you can turn many readily available items into fabulous favors. Let's look at a few ideas.
The Princess
Think sparkles and shine. Think opulence and dazzle. Think garish and gaudy. Put it all together and you've got the theme for kid party favors at a princess party. The guests of your little girl's tea party can dress for the occasion with these favors:
- Sparkly nail polish and stickers
- Mardi Gras type bead necklaces
- Plastic rings, clip on earrings, bangle bracelets, etc.
- Feather boas
Super Heroes
Instead of trying to control the party energy of super hero fans, just go with it! An hour of unbridled fun packed with Super Hero games and cakes will give your little hero a day to remember. For kid party favors, Super Hero goodies are easy to come by. With little effort you can find items with Batman, Superman, The Hulk or most any hero you're looking for.
- Masks
- Small flashlights. Create a "Batman Light" but cutting the shape of bat and gluing it over the lense to be able to project a bat shape on the wall.
- Bags of precious rocks, marbles or chocolate coins for treasure
- Small cars, planes or vehicles appropriate to specific characters
The Magician
With Harry Potter in the limelight these past few years, the wonder of magic and sorcery has peaked new interest among little ones. If your little girl or guy is into casting spells and waving wands, you're in luck. Coming up with kid party favor ideas is a snap. Use a magician's hat as your bag and fill it with a few of the following:
- Playing cards and dice
- Magic wands. Purchase wooden dowels in the appropriate size, paint them mostly black with a white tip – voila!
- Pop Rocks and other mystical types of candy
- Faux rabbit's foot key chains
Assembling the Kid Party Favors
For kids, an upcoming birthday party is more exciting than most anything. A great way to utilize and focus this exciting energy is by involving the guest of honor in party preparations. Getting a child's help in assembling the party favors or goody bags gives them a chance to participate in the giving and can help you reinforce the ideas of offering thanks and appreciation to the guests. Use the opportunity to remind your child that party favors are a little way to say "Thanks for coming to my party!"
