Tea Party Motifs
A tea party is a wonderful theme for celebrating Mothers Day with the women in your life. The event is usually elegant and feminine. The invitations should reflect the classiness of the party. Tea-themed motifs are popular on invitations, which include:
- Teapots
- Cup and saucer
- Serving tray
- Petit fours, finger sandwiches and other typical tea party food
- Table and chairs
- Ladies lunching
Invitation paper that has been die-cut to look like an actual teapot or cup and saucer are not only unique, but convey the specialness of the event. These shaped invites may require additional postage for mailing.
A tea party invitation for Mothers Day does not have to feature tea accessories, especially if the people invited are not partial to actual tea. Hosting a celebration with a tea party theme but serving other beverages is perfectly acceptable. Other commonly found designs on tea party invitations include:
- Hats
- Flowers (single or bouquets)
- Lace
- Victorian graphics
- Pink and lilac color themes
Handmade Mothers Day Tea Invitation
Show your mom how special she is by creating a handmade tea party invitation. Use leftover Mothers Day craft supplies and scrapbooking supplies.
Doily Invitation
Pick up some large paper doilies from a craft store. Cut out the center circular portion. Place cream or pastel colored cardstock behind the doily so the color shows through the circle and edges. Use scalloped craft scissors to cut a border about ¼ inch wide around the doily. Use a calligraphy pen to write the tea party information in the middle of the invite.
Teapot Invitation
Find a picture of a teapot and trace onto heavy cardstock. Center and print invitation wording on the teapot shape using a word processing program. After printing it out, cut out the teapot shape. Center the teapot onto a sheet of scrapbooking paper that features a floral design. Cut a border approximately ¼ to ½ inch wide around the teapot shape.
Flower Invitation
A flower invitation is perfect for a tea party hosted in a garden. Take a few close-up digital photos of flower heads, preferably roses or other large blooms. Make any edits necessary once they are loaded onto your computer. Create a half-fold card using a graphics or card-making program. Set the flower color at 30 to 50 percent and enlarge the photo to fit the entire front of the card. Use a script font to write "Mother's Day Tea" on the front of the invitation in boldface.
Type the invitation information on the inside of the card. After printing and allowing the ink to dry, fold the invitations. Add some flower petals to the inside of the card before putting into a mailing envelope.
Mothers Day Invitation Formality
A Mothers Day tea invitation should have a sophisticated air to it. Writing a formal invitation letter inside the invitation is one way to convey the classiness of the occasion. Even a casual tea party is still a tea party, and the theme indicates a certain level of formality.
Create a party invitation that reflects the special day for your mom and grandma. While you may be able to find online invitations for a Mother's Day tea, they should not be used due to the elegant nature of the occasion. If you need to save time and money, look for free printable invitations. Print them onto nice paper, not plain white printer paper. Dress them up by adding some lace and embellishments after printing.
