Party Supply Rentals

From LoveToKnow Party

If you’re planning a big time bash, party supply rentals are probably high on your to-do list of things to research. Sure, you don’t mind popping for a few balloons and streamers, but if you’re having a big crowd for an event such as a wedding or family reunion, you can’t shell out the cash for the extra tables, chairs, and dishes you’ll need; not to mention any special extras you want at your event. This where party supply rentals come in. These rentals let you turn your party from ho-hum gathering of friends to the social event of the year, without breaking the bank to do it.

What are Party Supply Rentals?

If it belongs at a party, chances are you can rent it. The most common things people turn to party supply rental businesses for are:

  • Chairs
  • Tables
  • Tents
  • Dishes
  • Silverware
  • Glasses
  • Linens (Napkins, tablecloths, etc)
  • Kegs

But rentals aren’t limited to this traditional party gear. Want a climbing wall at your backyard barbeque? Rent it! How about a cart and horse for hayrides at your Halloween party? No problem! Roulette tables and slot machines for your casino themed fund raiser? Party supply rental places have you covered! Whatever theme you have in mind for your party, chances are you can rent some supplies to make it come alive, from classic cars to fog machines.

Party supply rental stores are also in the business of making your part more comfortable. If you’re having an outdoor wedding in the middle of a major cold snap, rent some outdoor heaters. If you’ve got a mosquito problem on your hands, rent some bug zappers or citronella torches.

The Cost of Party Supply Rentals

Of course, the cost of your rental depends on many factors, like what you rent and how long you will need to keep it. While the cost of a keg of beer may differ wildly from the cost of a helicopter (and yes, you really can rent a helicopter, plus pilot, for your party), there are a few tips to keep in mind that apply to whatever you are in the market to rent:

  • Do your research - Ask around and see if anyone you know has used a party supply rental business in your area. Check out the businesses in your area on the internet and make sure there are no complaints about rentals not being delivered on time, faulty gear, etc.
  • Comparison shop - Get written quotes from a few companies for your rental needs, and see who is the cheapest. It doesn’t hurt to let people know that you have been quoted lower someplace else; they may just beat that price to get your business.
  • Be realistic and set a budget in advance - Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in the moment and start renting things you don’t need. If the equipment you were hoping to get doesn’t come in at a price you can afford, scrap it and move on.

When you do decide to rent from someone, make sure you receive a clear contract from them and that EVERYTHING is in writing. Know exactly when they are doing to drop off the equipment and exactly when they are going to pick it up. Know their policy on faulty equipment, and know your liability if something happens to the equipment when it is in your care. Do they set up and disassemble the equipment, and if not, do you know how to use it? All of these things should be covered in your contract.
