Where to Go for Wild Spring Break Parties

Parties of the Past

It used to be, that if you were looking for a crazy party, you would travel to one of the following major spring break cities:

  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Daytona Beach
  • Panama City

Notice how all the cities above are located in Florida? Well, Florida's stronghold on wild spring break parties is in the past and now, you can find unforgettable celebrations from California to the Jersey Shore. Below, you will find information on the most popular locations.

Spring Break in Arizona

Arizona? Yes, Arizona - Lake Havasu to be exact. Situated on the border of California and Arizona, Lake Havasu a unique floating party. If you live in a cold-weather state and are looking for a spring break that involves warm weather, boats and water, Lake Havasu is the place to be. Party-goers begin the day by launching their boats at The Channel and heading out to Copper Canyon. Upon arriving at Copper Canyon, partiers tie up their boats as far as the eye can see, creating a floating party.

At Lake Havasu, the party doesn't stop for spring breakers once the sun goes down. Although the town of Havasu City is small, it has plenty of night-time activities to keep party-goers happy.

  • Kokomo Havasu – Located inside the London Bridge Resort and Convention Center, this club is a mind-boggling 10,000 square feet covering four levels and 21 bars.
  • The Naked Turtle Beach Bar – Located right on the beach, boaters can beach their boats and walk up to the bar. No shirts or shoes required here!

The Bahamas

Consider the Spring Break Party Cruise. Offered by Spring Break Travel, this party cruise leaves Fort Lauderdale, Florida and includes all-you-can-eat buffets for breakfast and lunch. Other activities include casinos, dance clubs and live shows. A word of warning though; drinks are not included in the ticket price.

South Padre Island, Texas

South Padre Island is an old stand-by for wild spring spring break parties. This island off the southern coast of Texas is dubbed the "Two Nation Vacation" because the Mexican border is just over the bridge. While staying in South Padre, party at Louie's Backyard and catch a live show or the nightly Miss Hawaiian Tropic bikini contest.

Cancun, Mexico

You can't talk about spring break and not mention Mexico! The Cancun nightlife has a bit of everything to please any partier. Check out the famed Señor Frog's for a little Salsa dancing, La Boom, Dady'O or Coco Bongo if disco is your thing and if you are looking to rock out, check out Bulldog and Daddy Rock. Don’t worry about getting to the bar in time, most don't close until five in the morning. Remember to bring your passport and valid identification.

South Beach, Miami, Florida

South Beach is one of those places where Hollywood celebrities come to play. There are way too many clubs and bars in this ultra-hip ocean side destination to list them all, but here are a choice few:

In South Beach, the party spills from the clubs to the streets and literally goes all night. One down-side, though, is that some of the more trendy clubs require tickets to get in.

A Few Words of Caution

Spring break is all about the party, right? Well, yes, but here are a few things to keep in mind when making your way through the crowds.

  • Never accept drinks from a stranger. Ever. Period. There are too many creeps wandering around that can and will slip something into your drink.
  • There truly is safety in numbers. This is especially important for the ladies. Too many bad things happen during spring break when you get separated from your group of party-girls. Stay close and stay safe.
  • Get your passport. If you are traveling to Mexico or the Bahamas, have a passport with you if you want to come home. Regulations require one upon re-entry into the U.S.
