Borrowing or renting a gazebo may be a more affordable way to decorate your garden. If you're worried about the cost of refreshments, you could ask your friends to pitch in for the food and drinks. With careful planning, any party can be affordable.

You may also find some fun ideas for a garden party in our article on spring party themes.

As long as you have permission to have a party at your house, Amanda, that's perfectly fine. You don't have to go somewhere to have a great birthday party. Just pick a fun theme and have some activities planned. Having some movies, video games or music available always helps, too. Have fun!

I agree Taylor Louise. A venue party can be a great way to keep everyone at a birthday party entertained. And there are options for everyone, from painting classes at a local studio to classics like bowling and skating.

a venue party brillant or what

Since it's a small party, you could go somewhere for the first part of the evening, like an arcade, bowling alley, roller rink, laser tag place, or miniature golf course. These places should be active enough for the guys, while the girls can still jump in and have fun. If you want to stay at home, movies are always a good choice, as long as you pick one everyone would like - it's probably not the time to break out High School Musical. Coed Teen Party Games and Teen Party Activities might give you some more ideas on things to do at your party.

I'm having my 2 friends over for my 13th birthday party and my boyfriend, my friends boyfriend and my other friends best guy friend. Only the girls are staying over night. Does anyone have any tips or ideas that we can do that isn't to girlish or boyish but is still fun for all of us? Thanks for all the help. And remember, Ideas are needed soon, My birthday is in April amd i'm trying to plan early. Thanks!:)

If you like sports, a March Madness theme could be a fun idea, with sporty decorations and games. Make sure you're including activities that both the boy and girls would enjoy. So if you watch a movie, it should probably be a comedy instead of a romance. Games and activities are a great way to fill the time. Our article Coed Teen Party Games can give you some ideas. Hope you have a great birthday, Nikki.

Thanks for the feedback, Party Mom. If you're willing and able to host the event of the year, and your daughter is ready for that sort of boy-girl party, then there's no reason not to go for it.

I so have to disagree with this whole idea. My daughter will be turning 13 in April 2008. She has an outgoing personality and her friends are so looking forward to her party. I have children I don't even know coming up to me at her school asking me are they invited. Her party is gonna be the highlite of the school year because most of her friends would have already had their lil boring hotel party (age 9), skating/bowling party (age 5), and swim party (age 11). Granted, her 13th is not gonna be as large as her 16th, but she is ready to have a "club" party most definitely. If your child is ready and he/she passes the cues, go for the club party.
