Nedra, you could say, "Hats off to [name of the guest of honor]! or "Let's take our hats off to [name of the guest of honor]" and along with the party details add, "Please wear your favorite hat to the celebration."

I am trying to play an 80th birthday party for my relative. She knows about the party and wants one but since she has enjoyed hats all her life I would like to ask everyone to wear a hat to her luncheon. That would be the "surprise" part for her. Any suggestions on how to get this in to an invitation? Thank you
