I found some ideas at LoveToKnow Crafts. One that I think would be perfect for the time frame and budget you have in mind is Leaf People. Basically, you glue a leaf to paper and then use it as the "body" of a person by drawing arms, legs, and a head. You can read more about it at Craft Projects for Fall. If that idea doesn't sound good, you can also find several more crafts for kids in Fall Printable Paper Craft and Easy to Make Fall Crafts. Hope this helps!
-- Contributed by: Lorie WitkopI'm trying to locate craft ideas for a 2nd grade "autumn" (Halloween is not allowed) party. I've seen some good ideas but they are too costly for a class size (17-23 kids) and too time consuming (the party is 45 minutes). I'm looking for some simple, low cost activities that can be completed with 10-20 minutes from start to finish. Any suggestions?

Are you and your friends interested in wearing costumes? Having a theme for the costumes can make your party unique. For a new twist on the zombie theme mentioned in the article, I've heard of teens throwing zombie proms. It can be fun to rip apart old suits and formal dresses, adding fake blood and other accessories along with your zombie make-up.
You could have a horror movie marathon. Rent several movies, provide a lot of popcorn and drinks, and spend the night being scared.
If you like the kind of party where people dance and hang out, it can be enough to just provide the music and some refreshments.
Going somewhere instead of having a house party can be good if you have transportation. What you do will depend on what is available in your area. You can all go to a movie theater to watch a scary movie. You can visit a haunted house as a group. I don't know if these are everywhere, but corn mazes are popular in my area.
If you live in an area where a bonfire is possible, that can be fun. Just make sure you don't break local laws and get any required burn permits.
Or you can mix and match these ideas â go to a haunted house, then return home for dancing in one room while a horror movie plays in another room. In the end, if you have a good group of friends enjoying time together, that's what people will remember most about the party.
